Explore the major activity categories commonly investigated for plant extracts, natural products and other bioactive compounds.

01 · Antioxidant activity
Measures the ability of a compound or extract to interact with reactive species or reduce oxidation in a defined experimental system. Common methods include DPPH, ABTS, FRAP and ORAC.

02 · Antimicrobial activity
Investigates inhibition or killing of microorganisms. Common approaches include agar diffusion, MIC, MBC and time-kill studies.

03 · Anti-inflammatory activity
Can be investigated through enzyme assays, protein-denaturation models, cytokine measurements and cellular inflammatory pathways.

04 · Cytotoxic activity
Assesses effects on cell viability or proliferation. MTT, resazurin, ATP-based and related assays are commonly used.

05 · Enzyme inhibition
Measures reduction of a target enzyme's activity. Results depend on substrate concentration, enzyme conditions and inhibitor kinetics.

06 · Antidiabetic-related activity
Research may investigate inhibition of carbohydrate-digesting enzymes such as α-amylase and α-glucosidase in vitro. This does not establish a clinical antidiabetic effect.

07 · Anticancer research activity
In vitro studies can examine cancer-cell viability, apoptosis, migration or signaling. Cell-line findings require further validation and do not alone establish treatment efficacy.

08 · Neuroprotective research
Experimental models may investigate oxidative stress, enzyme activity, neuronal viability or signaling relevant to nervous-system research.
